Welcome Chris Harris: Our On-Site Osteopath at Optimal Dental Health

We’re proud to welcome Chris Harris, BA Hons DO, to Optimal Dental Health. A qualified osteopath, Chris brings over 30 years of experience and a deep specialism in Cranial Osteopathy, particularly in paediatrics and the emerging field of Osteodontics, a unique approach he helped name, focusing on the link between dental work and cranial balance.

Chris offers a gentle, holistic style of care that supports patients in making lasting, positive changes. His calm, enthusiastic manner and dedication to patient wellbeing make him a valuable addition to our integrative team.

What Is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a hands-on, holistic approach to health that focuses on the body’s structure and how it functions. By assessing and treating not just the musculoskeletal system but all the tissues of the body, osteopaths aim to restore balance and support your body’s natural ability to heal.

Chris brings with him years of clinical experience, a warm, patient-centred approach, and a deep understanding of posture, alignment, and body mechanics down to a deep and subtle level. Plus how these influence not only wellness and movement, but also the systems that support oral and dental health.

Osteopathy & Dentistry

Many people are surprised to learn how closely connected the structure of the face and jaw is to overall wellbeing, and how dental treatment can impact that delicate balance. That’s where cranial osteopathy comes in, also known as Osteodontics.

We’re fortunate to have Chris Harris, an experienced cranial osteopath, working alongside our dental team at Optimal Dental Health. Chris has spent his career understanding the subtle, rhythmic movements of the bones in the head and face. These are movements that are essential to how we chew, speak, breathe and function. This is not just in the head and face but the rest of the body as well.

While these facial bones are designed to handle everyday functions like biting and chewing, they’re also incredibly intricate and finely tuned. In some cases, particularly after dental work or facial trauma, this balance can be disrupted, leading to tension, discomfort, or changes in function.

Chris works gently and precisely to help the body rebalance itself. His treatments can be especially supportive for our patients undergoing orthodontic care, dealing with jaw tension or TMJ issues, or recovering from dental procedures. His presence at Optimal Dental Health in Baker Street means we can offer a more holistic, integrated approach, treating the mouth, jaw, and body as a whole.

Having Chris on-site regularly means we can now offer truly integrated care, combining osteopathic insight with dental expertise for a more holistic patient experience, as well as Myofunctional Therapy with our clinician Jenny Nicoll.

Whether you’re managing TMJ issues, recovering from dental surgery, or just seeking greater structural balance, osteopathy is a natural complement to your oral health journey.

“I highly recommend Chris as an Osteopath. I now live over an hour away and have happily travelled to see Chris for treatments. I have found it difficult to find someone else whose expertise in this field matches Chris.” – M.L
